I have had my own little personal battles with restless leg syndrome. It is
definitely worse during pregnancy for me. I have done some homework on this
as I just don't see pharmaceuticals as a viable option for myself (it seems I
am constantly nursing and/or pregnant). I have found out that most restless
leg syndromes are caused by a calcium deficiency. As long as I take plenty
of a good, absorbable form of calcium supplement and up my dietary intake of
calcium-rich foods, I have NO symptoms. Another thing that makes it worse
for me is consuming caffeine. This makes sense with the calcium thing
because caffeine pulls calcium from your body. I have not found RLS to be a
problem when lactating, but I am usually on calcium supplements during this
time. Hope this helps.
