I just got my Winter 97 _Mothering_ Magazine. On page 23 there is a
display ad that is disturbing. It is not lost in the pages of
classifieds at the back, this one is large with a picture of a happy
baby, in the 'Letters' section:
(in large font) "When You Are Breastfeeding, Don't Settle for Prenatal
or Multi-Vitamins"
(smaller font) "Multi-vitamins are for everyone, Prenatal vitamins are
for pregnant women, Your needs are special"
(in larger font) "Ensure High Quality Breastmilk with 'Focused
Nutritional Therapy' for Breastfeeding Mothers"
goes on to say: "If you've made the decision to bf, give yourself and
your baby the highest-quality nutritional therapy available."
1-800-347-0308
In tiny *microscopic* letters "These statements have not been evaluated
by the FDA."

I am going to e-mail Peggy O'Mara and contact the 'Focused Nutritional
Therapy' people if I can access their 1-800 from Canada. The ad
certainly seems to be suggesting higher quality bmilk with their
product. Ms O'Mara and _Mothering_ are very pro-bf and maybe this one
just slipped by them.
