OK, I am American, and I'm no "wimp" in regards to pain.

I won't bore you with the details, but suffice it to say I have had
many, many more episodes of intense and protracted pain than
"average"'and I've gotten pretty good at dealing with it.

My opinion on how well people tolerate pain is: it is like any other
coping skill, learned. And the more opportunity you have had to
practice, the better you get at it. Fortunately, Americans live in a
society where the risks of serious bodily harm are far less than in many
areas and our access to medical care to treat conditions before they
become excruciatingly painful is far better than in many places.
Therefore, many Americans make it to adulthood without ever having to
experience significant pain, and consequently have the opportunity to
learn how to effectively deal with it.

So lighten up, no matter what you think of someone else's complaint, you
cannot judge their level of pain, only they can and their opinion is the
only one that counts.
