I just read a newspaper article about a baby born HIV negative to an
HIV negative mom impregnated with sperm from her HIV positive
husband. A technique was used to "wash" the sperm to remove cells which
may carry the virus. The author speculated that in some states this
might be illegal because the health care provider might be said to be
knowingly transferring HIV infected "tissue" from one person to another
and that this is illegal in at least 2 states, I think it was Florida
and New York. I thought it was interesting in view of the way
breastfeeding is being criminalized. Carla
