I replied to Leslie directly before I realized that her note was also sent
to Lactnet. I did not criticize the people on the committee (BCC). I know
that most are working very hard. I criticized the Canadian government and
UNICEF Canada.

The fact of the matter is that there are some hospitals in Canada who
believe they are ready. From what I hear, two are definitely baby friendly
and would pass. But there are not even plans, it seems, from what I have
heard, to have them assessed. Furthermore, the cost to the hospitals of an
assessment is a lot of money, and unrealistically high, in these times of
government funding cutbacks. Government funding is so stingy that nothing
can be done. In fact, in several cases where people have tried even just to
get information, they cannot get it, not even getting acknowledgements to
their letters.

The bottom line is: Where are the Baby Friendly Hospitals in Canada? There
are none.
