Just had one of my favorite OBs stop by the office and ask for some
references. Seems he just had another mother call his office, complain
of deep breast pain and ask for Diflucan. Said she talked to a Lactation
Consultant and was told she had a breast infection with Candida. Her
only symptom was burning breast pain. He was curious, but also a little
upset. Said he would like research on breast infections caused by yeast
and studies that confirm that Diflucan cures it. He says he gets calls
like this and really has no scientific research to back up the giving of
Diflucan for "yeast mastitis". I must say, that, except for Lawrence's
references I'm pretty emptyhanded as far as exactly what he wants. He
doesn't want anecdotal write-ups or opinions, but scientific studies. Do
any of my fellow Lacnetters have what I need?
