Greetings lactnet friends,

i've been no mail for a while but wanted to come back on board with a
question.
Fat is the most variable of the macronutrients in breastmilk. One of our
neonatologists was telling a mother to take in 3 milkshakes per day to raise
caloric density. What's your experience and what's the data out there. Here
triplets are on 1:1 Breastmilk and 36 calorie special care. Even with this
they gain at the low end of normal, about 15 gms per day. Her milk is frozen
less than 10 days before use. They get some fresh each day. They've inched up
to the 36 to achieve 28cal/oz as they were getting 5 gram weight gains before.
They were born at 30 weeks and are now 33. She's begun skin to skin. They
are all gavaged.

Emailing me privately as well as to the list would be most helpful.

Chris
