Based on my own experience and observation of others, this may be just
another of baby's constantly changing needs. My son (age betw 9-12 mos)
suddenly started waking in the middle of the night. Not just restless, but
AWAKE and ready to play. Learning quickly I could not fight this, I had to
go along with it. We went to the kitchen where we alternately played with
his toys together, or he ran around in his wheeled walking toy while I read
the evening newspaper for the first time that day. When he finally ran out
of steam, he rolled up an hugged my leg, then willingly nursed to sleep.
These nighttime waking episodes lasted about 10 days.

Giving in to a short period of being wide awake is much less stressful and
exhausting to mom than trying to quiet a restless, wide-awake baby who will
not be quiet. Playtime & nursing back to sleep took about 45 min. I
understand that's about equivalent to one sleep cycle.

Remember the Mantra: This, Too, Shall Pass.

 but the little girl is
> waking them up at night with teething and wanting to
> play. she is capable of nursing while laying down-
> she's a good nurser.
