On rare occasions, sudden unilateral breast rejection has been a marker for
breast mass, which, upon biopsy, revealed a malignancy. Dr. Lawrence
recommends examination to rule out a tumor, preferably by ultrasound, then
mammography, just to be sure.

Other reasons for sudden breast rejection include salty tasting milk after a
bout of mastitis. Change in flavor, e.g., lots of mint or other strong
flavored herbs, garlic or onions, might cause it too, although I doubt it
would be stronger on one side rather than the other. A careful dietary
history (including drinks) might yield clues.
