I was at Wal Mart today when they announced over the intercom that they
were having a "bottle drinking" contest in the front as part of the
activities for "Baby Week". I was with my mother and 15 mo son. I was
complaining to my mother about the contest when a worker overheard me and
asked why I didn't want my son to participate on the contest. We had a
5-minute conversation, hitting on the highlights of my reasoning and on the
fact that she "could not" breastfeed her third children (the only one she
tried with). I explained to her that I felt like what she told me sounded
like she needed some support and help with the breastfeeding and that
giving her baby expressed milk was the best alternative to
breastfeeding. She practically ran over to the place where the contest was
being held to tell them what I had said.

What really made my day though was that NO ONE showed up for the
contest. The employees were all over the store trying to get first
children, then adults to participate. They ended up telling their
employees to play so they could take pictures! I laughed all the way out
of the store. My mother says that they should have made them drink formula
(they had apple juice) and then see if they could get even the employees to
drink it.
