Hi Mary Kay: Yes I am very frustrated with this problem. Our Hispanic
population keeps saying no milk: I have them express colostrum manually
trying to show milk. I also see it among too many other moms too. Our
staff try to reinforce there is milk but this usually does not help. Of
9 mothers I worked with just today, 6 were wanting to give bottles and
breast. They said it was not a problem for them to do bottles. Again,
some days can be so frustrating I need to come home and divert my
attention to Lucille Ball or something totally different to help cope
with our culture.
Other topic: Has anyone had experience with an African custom of
letting a newborn breastfeed a wet nurse often for the first 6 weeks?
