First let me congratulate you on running what seems to be a very
successful program. You are obviously meeting a need.

I have been an LLL Leader for 24 years, and I was very surprised to hear
you were under the impression that subjects like extended nursing and
nursing while pregnant were not allowed to be discussed at meetings. In
fact, at our last meeting, which focussed on weaning, those subjects were
discussed extensively. In addition to regular meetings, many Groups also
have special personal enrichment meetings which discuss general mothering
rather than breastfeeding issues. You are welcome to visit my Group's
website http://www.prairienet.org/llli/WebChemungNY.html where you will
be able to see the wide variety of subjects we covered during the past
year.

By the way, back in the 80s La Leche League recognised that different
mothers had different needs and started training Peer Counselors in order
to meet them where they were. You may be interested in tapping into some
of the many resources to be found on the LLL website
http://www.lalecheleague.org/ . The range of subject matter is extensive
and is constantly updated.
