Hi all,
These were exactly my sentiments as I read first Rachel's posting.
I also believe that group think and action would probably be more effective
than if we as individuals try to get in touch with Medela. I have brought it
to the attention of my fellow Board Members at La Leche League International
with the hope that we can do something to inquire to understand how and why
this transpired, and if there is anything we can do to influence their
choices. I also feel that we should not just stand by. As much as many of us
do not like taking money from any commercial interests, unfortunately most
non-profits have to rely on help aside from donations and memberships. Many
non-profits suffer nowadays, and as much as we all would love to be
self-sufficient, it isn't an easy task.
Stay tuned.................

Subject: Medela

Writing to Medela with concerns about content on advertising material, as an
individual is good BUT more effective is putting pressure on organizations
like the Australian Breastfeeding Association, ALCA, LLLI, ILCA, and all the
others..
to apply marketing force to Medela..

Whilst I'd prefer that none of these organizations took sponsorship, ads or
sold pumps to remain conflict-free, they are unlikely to.. but they can put
pressure on Medela in a more significant way than individuals to change
their material.

but will they ? and will members approach these seemingly commercial-first
organizations to do so ?

I just printed a reference on this very topic, from Mary Ann Leibert's si=
te, Breastfeeding=20 Medicine.com, but. of course, I left it at work. I
think you are referri= ng to cytomeglovirus,=20 in premie, hopefully. I was
scanning several study results, for breast f= eeding in NI, and it=20 seems
this was one of the topics covered. I can forward the info to you,= if you
email me,=20 with your fax/email, at [log in to unmask] Joann C.
