formulas "requires" that babies get formula to a year. Oh, I just
feel sick.>>>

I wanted to ask about this too. Bc here in the Netherlands too it's not the
argument of iron why the followup formula is being recommended, but bc they
tell the sodium and protein load of cow's milk is too high, while in
followup formula these loads are lower. People are also told to make diner
without sodium for their baby's for that reason.

Recently I heard from a lot of women with baby's older than 6 months who
don't want to give formula on those situations they are run out of EBM, but
give cow's milk instead. They give whole milk, diluted with water to lower
the sodium and protein load. Actually I'm concerned if these baby's will
not get enough fat. (though if it is only used occasionally, it is not such
a big deal). Esp since these women usually only nurses 4-5-6 times a day.

<<<In Europe they have formulas for toddlers to three years of age.>>>

though i have seen the toddler formula here in the supermarket, it isn't
being pushed here yet. In Belgium though they are. I got an email from a
woman from Belgium whose mailbox was overloaded with ads for toddler
formulas as soon as her daughter turned one year old. She was very
concerned about the calcium levels in breastmilk, since she was
breastfeeding. She asked me if she should give these toddler formula
instead.
