Hi All,
I can totally understand why this mom was angry and made such a fuss. It is
one thing for cross nursing to be agreed upon between two moms, it is quite
another to have someone you don't (or may not) know BF your baby without your
express permission. BF is an intimate and dynamic relationship, and should
be treated as such. The woman who BF the baby probably did so out of
kindness to the hungry baby, however, it was inapropriate to do that kindness
with out Mom's oermission. I would be FURIOUS if someone BF my baby without
my permission (and furious is an understatement!). However, if it was a
friend I trusted and knew well (and I have such a friend) I would not care in
the least if she BF my child while I was away if baby got hungry.
We must remember that CONSENT is the issue, not neccessarily the cross
nursing itself. Any activity or action done to someone else without consent
is a violation ot that persons personal rights, and therefore is
inappropriate.
My .02!
