I dislike 'demand feeding' for instance. Much prefer 'unrestricted feeding'
which has a more positive ring to it. Who wants to be 'restricted'? Yet I
would like a more friendly, easier to say and less polysyllabic
phrase....feeding 'ad lib'? Too Latin. 'Ask' feeding? Silly. 'Feeding as
and when you or the baby want to' is okay but a bit long.

 Any ideas? >>
Hi Heather and all,
I like to call it feeding "on cue", meaning simply that mom is responding to
the baby's hunger cues. I also let moms know that crying is the last, and most
obvious, hunger cue, and let them know that there are others to look for -that
they do not have to wait til the baby is hysterical to justify offering the
breast 'again'. I also use the term cluster feeding, as well as 'stacking' ,
as in the baby is kind of stacking one nursing on another, often readying for
sleep.
