I have a mum and baby 3 weeks post partum. Breastfeeding not going
well. I first saw her at 1 week, the problem has still not been
resoved. The baby appears to attatched well, but mums nipples are
sore (at 10.00), and blanching and no matter what I do, it is not
working. She has tried all the positions. Lately the baby feeds ok
some nights, but the days are awful. Nipples are graspable, baby has
no oral, nasal or chin problems. My latest theory is that baby the
baby is tongue thrusting. Baby has had a dummy since birth, no
bottles, shields, anything. I have now suggested that the dummy be
taken away to see if this improves things.
Can anyone suggest anything else. Does anyone have any suggestions
how to improve tongue thrusting?
