Leslie -
What a wonderful opportunity for you! Some of the things I think it's
important for hospital staff to know about LLL and what we do:
- we help the mom nurse for however long SHE wants to.
- we can help the working mom learn to express her milk or to wean.
- we do not give medical advice. We refer moms to their physicians.
- we relieve the nursing staff by working with the new moms for as long as
they need us: in the hospital, over the phone or at home.
- we help the new mom adjust to motherhood through mother-to-mother support.
- we have had extensive training in lactation. Breastfeeding is our
specialty.
- we have extensive resources for more complicated situations.
Good luck!
