This mom could not sign the baby out AMA, as I
understand it. The baby had been made a ward of the
state on June 9, according to this article
(http://crime.about.com/b/a/257006.htm). So she had no
rights or say in the baby's welfare, as I understand
it, at the time that she took the baby out of the
hospital.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I can well understand her frustration and concern. I
don't know what I would have done in the same
situation. :(
