Dear Wise Ones,

     I apologize for the off topic, and I also apologize for a topic that is so 
widely discussed already in the archives!  But I am in need of some quick 
suggestions, and I must confess to having troubles with the archives.  My 
computer seems to be acting up this am, but it could totally be the user!  I 
even put it on tutorial, but to no avail.  When I click on one of the subtopics 
to read, I can't seem to get back to that page to be able to click on another 
one.

   But here's where I need your help!

   I have a mom who is breastfeeding a 6 month old as well as a 3 year old.  
She has struggled with a plugged duct in one breast for over a month now.  
She has been taking 2 t. lecithin daily, wearing the cotton ball soaked in olive 
oil, using warmth, massage, positioning baby with chin to that area, pumping, 
having older child suck harder (and with success here as daughter would say 
she felt something hard come out), and manually working out blebs.  She 
states that the nipple seemed to always heal over, even with the olive oil, and 
she would once again reopen it before the nursing.  Having done all this daily 
for over a month, her OB sent her to a breast surgeon, who stated that he 
didn't feel anything and there was nothing more to do.  He would prescribe 
abx. if it worsened and she s/s mastitis.  (she has already been on abx once)  
The surgeon also mentioned weaning, which, of course, the mom is adamant 
to not do!
   She is seeing a different surgeon tomorrow.  
   I saw her yesterday and could feel the plugged area.  It feels about 3 
inches long and about 1/2 inch in width.  No visible nipple bleb, tho you can 
definitely tell the area she has been dealing with.  (sl. reddened, would 
probably scab if didnt keep olive oil on it)  No fever, not hot to touch, not 
reddened, not visible to the naked eye.
   
   I have been looking up ultrasound tx, mamography, ductal yeast? (...)
   I would like for her to be as prepared as possible for this next doctor.

   Please send me any suggestions.  Feel free to email me privately, as this 
info is probably readily available to the more computer literate!  Actually, in my 
defense I should mention that I have successfully searched the archives many 
times before, but have not been able to since the recent change to the site.
