In addition to Laurie's recommendations, breast massage (gently moving 
around the glandular tissue in the breast just before feeding) can help 
reduce plugging , and ultrasound to the breast can treat the plugs and 
reduce the risk of progressing to mastitis. Once the breast is no longer 
getting inflamed, mom can very very gradually reduce pumping.
