I highlighted what Jessica posted because this is what I was trying to get
across in my previous post.
The local anesthetic does not reduce the baby's distress for this procedure
and when the mother wants to comfort her baby immediately after she is unable.
My fear is that with the public push to address tight frenulums with an
increase demand for clinicians to clip them more clinicians will feel they
need to use anesthetics.
I wanted to empathize this is NOT necessary and the baby misses the best
pain, comfort management they could ever possible need BREASTFEEDING!
Please check out Dr. Jaine's video.  If someone can give me a good reason why
anesthesia would be better than breastfeeding for this procedure I would love
to hear it.
