The most commonly available supplementer is the Medela SNS. One of its
flaws is that babies sometimes suck on the tube without draining the
breast effectively (although placing the tube under the breast, and
slowing the flow, help somewhat). The Lact Aid works much better because
the flow is "uphill" and babies have to work harder for it.
Lact Aids are not as available as the Medela product and do require a
little more manual dexterity from the mother.

The feeding specialist's reaction is interesting. Did she (or he) give
any reasons?
