Dear LACTnetters:

I'd appreciate input from anyone (Tom Hale, esp.) on mother's question of
what she can do to relieve depression/severe irritability with ovulation
(menses returned 2 mos. ago). ( She's given permission for this posting.)
She is currently BF 10 mos. old and has two other children who have taken the
brunt of her "depression" (her quote) and she doesn't want them to suffer
because of her mood due to PMS. States she always had severe PMS and it's
somewhat less with BF, but still a concern.

Her question to me is safety of Hypericum and BFing; or what else might ease
her symptoms. (I've searched Archives with results being non-definitive) Her
midwife recommended Evening Primrose Oil (midwife states it takes a few
months for effect), wild yam cream at time of ovulation, and Hypericum (sorry
I forget dose).

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Warmly,
Barbara Latterner, BSN,RN,IBCLC
