I asked my medical packaging engineer husband about this - he says this
substance is used as a "carrier" for some drugs and treatments, it has a
lower toxicity than ethylene glycol, and is water soluble.  It is used in
oral medications and hand lotions and creams.  He thinks it is in the
monograph of the USPF if someone has accesss to it.

So, I suspect that rinsing the nipple with clear or normal saline (see
previous discussion), the tiny amounts ingested by the baby would be of
little consequence...
