<<I've heard this advice given as a means to make a baby stop biting:
Pinch the nose briefly, or press baby's face into the breast briefly.
Objective is to make baby open his/her mouth and release the breast.
Again, not advice I would give, but I've heard moms claim it works. I'm
sure it does, but what's the aftermath?>>

We LLL Leaders (at least in my part of the world) often suggest to
mothers they try the pulling baby into the breast (jokingly referred to
among my co-Leaders & myself as "the suffocation method") and yes, the
idea is to get the baby to unlatch/stop biting b/c he can't breathe
through his nose. LLL would never recommend pinching the nose, but
pulling the baby into the breast so their nose is squished is often
given out as an option for a mother of a biting baby and as one who has
personally used this method (DD went through a thankfully short-lived
biting stage at about 7 months), it works and my child does not seem to
have been negatively affected.
