Wasn't it Jay Gordon who retorted so profoundly: "fenugreek is a food!"

Um, OK. So if fenugreek is as dangerous as the people in that training program profess it to be, maybe all LCs, RDs, and MDs should recommend against eating artificial maple syrup, or enhancing the flavors of their scones or biscuits and other foods, and to avoid eating those cuisines that do use it. Is a sprinkle okay but a teaspoon not okay? But moms take it in capsules to enhance their milk supply! Okay: how much can you get into a capsule? 1/4 tsp? 1/8 tsp? compared to what's in that huge coffee shop scone she is eating with her morning coffee? I think this is the proverbial tempest in a teapot.

How is recommending (prescribing) for or against fenugreek (a food) any different from recommending (prescribing) for or against any other food choice, herbal flavoring (like sage), menu or cuisine as we work with our BFing moms?

I would hope that any BFing mom doesn't participate in alternative medicines as a replacement for standard allopathic care, but as a complement to it. Sometimes these dire warnings do not take into consideration that the use of herbals or homeopathy or chiropractic or naturopathy by people trained, certified &/or licensed in those disciplines are the Standard of Care in most First World countries, including the US.

BTW: it's worth mentioning that Dr. Lowdog is a MD who has a great working knowledge of herbals and many alternative practices. She is always very clear in what is safe or not, effective or not, during one's childbearing and child nurturing years.

PS: Have any of our L'net doctors ever treated a lactating mom for fenugreek overdose? Isn't it true that your body tells you when you took enough - fragrance - 'activity' - and the like?
