Did anyone happen to see the weekend today show? A DR Donnica L. Moore MD
presented information on a short guide to pregnancy. Look it up on the MSNBC
web site.
She presented the following information, "Your a bad mother if you decide not
to BF. While breast feeding is generally optimal for newborns for many
documented reasons, it is not always. For numerous physical, social,
cultural, psychological, or emothional reasons there are mothers who either
cannot nurse or who choose not to nurse. In her presentation she never
mentioned what the documented reasons why breastfeeding is not optimal for
newborns. Although she did say breastfeeding is best she didn't convey this
message.
She also pointed out to the viewers " No extra points are given in the mother
of the year contest for who suffered the most in labor" She even said
smiling, I had general anesthesia, without qualifying what are some of the
risks for medicated deliveries. Does anyone know how to E-mail the today
show? I think we should let them know what we think of their health
consultant. They do have a rating system you can choose at the end of the
article. I encourage everone to read this and rate it.
Patty, IBCLC in MI
