Esther - is this Mum pregnant again? Dropping the night feed may have allowed her fertility to return. A new pregnancy might be why she has since had such a drop in supply. It is possible - thought unusual - to increase the breastmilk supply during a pregnancy. I did it myself in an emergency situation, when we were bogged on an isolated rural road overnight. That baby is currently finishing her MSc thesis.
I'd be a bit wary about "Mother's Milk Teas", especially as they usually combine more than one ingredient. One such tea in a report of two (2) cases in Italy several years ago, was found to be the cause of the babies going flobby and and not having the tone to breastfeed. After suspension of the tea from the mothers' diets, and having the babies off the breast for two days to give the tea ingredients a chance to clear, the babies returned to the breast and fed normally. (Rosti et al - sorry, I don't have the publication details in front of me.)
I'm sure the mother will appreciate your support and understanding, Esther.
