I made a blunder with the info I initially gave on my client with this.
The baby developed lactose intolerane as a result of having
rotavirus at 2 weeks. The baby required a blood transfusion as a
result of anaemia caused from having rotavirus. Chatting to Mum
yesterday, it sounds like she is going to do her own thing and try
all breast feeds. She desperately wants to resume BF and is
hoping that the baby may only have a reaction to the change from
the lactose free formula to BF initially and then all will be OK. I
have passed on all the info you have given and will continue to let
her know of any advise you may be able to offer as to if she will
actually be able to fully BF again and how long it is likely to take.
Thanks,./ Val in Busselton, Western Australia
