Kathy A., thank you for the factual reminders and for the self-care
reminder and for the lovely words of support.

I'd like to say that *this year* I'm going to remember that more women than
usual will just not be up to the challenge of satisfying *everyone* while
establishing a breastfeeding relationship, and many of them will make the
regretable choice to wean. My first major post to Lactnet was in January
of '97 after which I had 3 clients who were doing fine, then just quit due
to Holiday Stress. I had 29 very beautiful replies from Lactnetters, which
I have kept in hard copy for re-reading when needed.

>a) Sage can reduce milk supply. Warn people about sage dressings in the
>turkey and other recipes calling for sage that are often part of the
>Holiday Smorgasbord.

Mint and parsley can also reduce milk supply. This "season" can be a time
of "seasoning" of an unusual nature. I had a client last week who was
munching those mint chocolates and noticed a decrease in her milk.

>b) REMEMBER: all posts to LACTNET are akin to writing above the fold on the
>front page of a MAJOR newspaper.

Oh, my, do you mean that non Lactnuts will see that we have supplanted the
original food groups with our personal favorites? And that Jack doesn't
know what hominy grits are? And Linda Smith carried her English Setter in a
sling? Or that we are not always in agreement with HCPs' reasons for
weaning from the breast?

return my call, which is why I have written 4 posts to Lactnet this morning.
