I need some help from my multi-disciplinary friends. I just received a call from my charge nurse asking for information on "Hindmilk" feedings for premature infants in place of the current Human Milk Fortifier currently used in the NICU.

I have searched the Archives for resources, also Medscape and general web search. I have come up with some information but not a guide on how to pump for "hindmilk".
I searched LLL but was unable to find anything there either.

Can anyone suggest places to look? I have (1) Lawrence: Breastfeeding, a guide for the medical profession, (2) Lauwers : Counseling the Nursing mother A lactation guide, (3) Auerbach & Riordan: Breastfeeding and Human Lactation and (4) Spangler's Breastfeeding a parents guide.

Scheduled to work tomorrow and will review what I have and make copies for them. Also would like to know the protocol for using information located in the LACTNET archives? Written consent? It will be for Neonatology's use only.

Any Doctors on board that can make comments on this subject to another doctor?

Need help soon as possible.

Thank You
Ann Slaughter
