In an article in the August issue of "Brooklyn Bridge" (a magazine about
Brooklyn):
a Muslim girl is supposed to marry a young man chosen for her by her
family; she doesn't want to marry him, though. "The boy had his heart
set on Noor, and insisted, as did both of the families. Noor believes she
would have been forced into the marriage had her grandmother not cleverly
intervened. "My grandmother had given birth just around the time when
that boy was born, and you know, in the village, sometimes nursing
mothers give suck to babies other than their own. She recalled that she
had nursed him as an infant. that made him a relative of mine, so the
wedding had to be called off."
