I have a mother of a 5 1/2 old infant who recently discovered she had
"ascaris lumbricoides" or worms. It is suspected she picked them up in
Fiji two years ago! She has no symptoms, just "found" a worm in the
toilet! Anway, she has been advised to take a single dose of Albendazole
and pump and dump for 72 hours. The drug is not in Thomas Hales book
and the PDR's and our computer drug program indicate low molecular
weight which would means good passage into breast milk, but high protein
binding, which may mean it would stay in the plasma and low GI
absorbtion, but a long half life. So could someone with more
pharmacological expertise please shed some light! (Dr. Hale, are you
still there?) Thanks from the far North!
