My name is Rachael Hamlet. I am not an LC, LLL leader or nurse. I am a
breastfeeding mom who used to be a practicing lawyer (and will again be soon, I
hope!). I would like to use the skills I have as an advocate to advance the
cause of breastfeeding in the U.S. I just came back from the LLLI conference
where I met many wonderful, committed people who are interested in taking action
in the public arena to advocate for breastfeeding. I was particularly excited
to meet with Barbara Heiser and Marsha Walker, two RN, IBLCLC's who, together
with Karin Caldwell, have formed the National Alliance for Breastfeeding
Advocacy (NABA). (If anyone is interested in more information about them,
contact NABA at 9684 Oak Hill Dr. Ellicott City, MD 21042) I joined Lactnet as
a means of networking with other people interested in advocacy. I would like to
hear from anyone (over LACTNET or by private e-mail) who wants to participate,
or who has ideas about raising public conciousness about the importance of
breastfeeding. I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who knows
about other resources on the Internet for connecting with other breastfeeding
advocates.

Thank you,

J. Rachael Hamlet, Esq.
