In a post on 24 Sept 2006 about nipple shields, Angela Salas asked,
rhetorically:
"Why don't they invent the plastic boob and get it over with?"

Angela - they did, in or about 1861, which from memory was called "the
Mamma" (and which soon sank from sight, I suspect from leakage), and again
in recent years with a breast-shaped bottle advertised on the internet.
They just aren't the same as the real thing.
