I just saw a woman who's been using pieces of SaranWrap on her damaged nipples to keep them from sticking to her bra. She's also been using an antibiotic ointment on her nipples, under the SaranWrap.

I was intrigued, and suggested she try doing it on one nipple only, to see which nipple felt better faster. She refused, saying she didn't want to be without it. She has a Soothie that her sister gave her, and did agree to try the Soothie on one side and the plastic wrap on the other.

What do you think of her solution? Provided she has an antibiotic ointment (or perhaps better yet, APNO) on her nipples, is it a reasonable idea? Do Soothies "breathe"? If not, in what way are they better than plastic wrap?

I'd love an answer from someone with experience in *general* wound care as well. Is something like this ever done, and if so, what are the advantages and drawbacks?
