I am looking at the recent preview of the UK five-yearly infant feeding
statistics (http://www.ic.nhs.uk/pubs/breastfeed2005), because I have been
asked to write something about them. I believe I remember that in the USA
for many years the only source of infant feeding stats was Ross = formula
mfgr? Is this correct? But that now there is some more independent source?
Can someone refresh my memory? If there is a new source, how big is it and
what kind of questions does it cover? Our last stats (2000) were a
gold-mine of info on all kinds of things, like how often women attend baby
clinics as well as incidence and duration of bf by country/region/social
class.

Thanks,

Magda Sachs, PhD.
