Jan, I'm not speculating that this mother is doing that.  I think it much
,ore likely that the judge doesn't understand child-led weanming, or indeed
that all kinds of other issues are going on here that we just don't knwo much
about.  My point was only that I'm not ready to say it could never happen.

And, parenthetically, that to persuade people of its rarity, it's better not
to exaggerate rarity into impossibility.

(analogy, which I've posted before:  my husband never believed that bf is
best for every single baby -- it just seemed to him to ignore the variability
of nature.  but since he learned about galactosemia in 1baby among 60,000, he
now believes that bf is best for all the others.)
