Yes, these are certainly rife in Australia, called by different names of
course.  My opinion is that the only thing they teach the baby is that
his/her needs will not be met by crying, so why bother crying.  I dread to
think what impact this could have in later life - does it mean that these
children won't be able to speak out or say no in cases of sexual abuse, etc?
Does it mean that they will be very compliant and just accept everything
that happens to them without question??
I also heard recently about a young mum who had discovered this "wonderful"
book - guess what it was?  Babywise!!  So that's in Oz too, as well as the
baby whisperer.
