Maka asks:

"a member of my LLL group has asked a question no one has been able to =

answer. she has a 7-month-old baby who is still nursing exclusively, and
=
who she intends to nurse exclusively until at least 1 year of age, =
preferably longer, due to family history of food allergies. she is =
concerned about her possibilities of being pregnant, due to finding =
fertile-quality cervical fluid the day after having intercourse. even if
=
she is not pregnant now, she and her partner do not use any method of =
birth control, so if she is nearing fertility she will probably soon be
=
pregnant. can she continue to nurse exclusively through a pregnancy?"

While nursing through pregnancy is not normally a problem, I wonder
about exclusive nursing through pregnancy. Pregnancy usually causes
milk supply to decrease significantly. When I became pregnant with my
second child, my first suddenly began eating breakfast as she was no
longer getting her tummy filled by our long morning nursing. She nursed
just as much, but was clearly receiving less milk. Can a pregnant
mother keep up enough supply for an exclusively breastfed baby?
