Hi everybody!
I just had a minute of great fun!
The topic on a local radio show today was childhood obesity and
diabetes. I called in and said lack of breastfeeding is a definite risk
factor for juvenile onset diabetes. The host was surprised, she said a
big 'It is???' I said yes, the thought is that the cow's milk proteins
in the formula damage the cells in the pancreas. (I only had one minute
or less) The guest, some nutritionist lady, quickly chimed in 'We
don't want to make anybody feel guilty who couldn't breastfeed.' The
host, bless her, strongly said 'We DON'T??? Don't we want to give our
babies the absolute best we possibly can? I worked at a tv station when
I had all 3 of my babies, I took 12 weeks off, then managed to breastfeed
each one for a year. And the breast pumps available for the first 2 were
like trombones, by the 3rd child I had a cadillac type of pump.'

With a light heart for the rest of the day,
