Hi All,
Ok, here is a better scope of the situation with my diabetic client. The PC
working with her had some of the info mixed up.

This client has been insulin dependent for 21 yrs. (she is 33) She is
currently BF with a healthy milk supply. Recently her Dr ran some routine
tests and has found that (tho there are no symptoms) this client is having
some kidney problems related to the diabetes. The reason he has not told her
what Meds he wants to start her on yet is because all of her test results are
not yet back from the lab, and he is unsure of exactly what meds he will be
putting her on to help with this kidney situation.

My questions are:
What type of meds are used for kidney probs related to diabetes?
Are any of these meds NOT ok for BF?
If there are some that ARE ok with BF, what are they?

I am trying to do a bit of research, again without all the details but this
time with mmore accurate info, to hopefully give this mom some info to take
with her, or at least give her some idea of what to expect.
She really wants to BF this baby, and was not told (until I told her) about
the risks of diabetes for her child if he was to be put on ABM, and the
benefits the breastmilk will have in helping to reduce his risk of diabetes
later in life. Now she really wants to BF this baby!

Looking forward to any info you all might have for me! Again, new territory,
new learning experiences!

TIA!
Jay
