OK, all you wise Lactnet ones:
I was at our local zoo this past Sunday, admiring all the nursing babies,
human and animal.  The one, though, that has me searching everywhere for
pictures of the baby nursing is the giant anteater.  I stood and watched the
mother carry her baby, and I studied that long snout with the tiny mouth at
the end, wondering how in the world nursing works for them!!  I did find info
online about the length of nursing (2-6 months), "wearing" the baby (6-9
months), and independence of the baby (9 months).  But nothing that discusses
how that baby gets his milk.  And I'm totally fascinated....anyone on Lactnet
know about anteaters nursing their young??
