I wonder what the world would be like if there were more IBCLC'S that
raised up" future IBCLCs. Meaning...mentoring. Taking the time (and I know
it is ALOT of time) to work with counselors in the way of the IBCLC to make
more successful future IBCLC's.

I am blessed, as I have mentioned many times, to have an IBCLC mentor. This
woman (Rosalie Girard) has taken so much time and effort to train me, teach
me, show me, guide me, etc (and is still doing so!). I wouldn't be on the
path to IBCLC without her (or have become a childbirth educator or birth
doula). She never asked for money for her time & effort. Because of her
example I wanted to volunteer. Because of the great sacrifice she made for
me...I wanted to give back as much as I could as often as I could. She
showed me the real spirit of this work...the love of the mothers & babies &
our community/world...not money and prestige. She helped me grow in my
views as well as my skills. She sees the forest through the trees.

I guess my point is that our example changes the world...just one person can
make a huge difference. Your example has the potential of making or
breaking a future IBCLC. Your example may change how a potential IBCLC sees
this work, service, mothers, babies, healthcare, etc.

Imagine what would happen if every IBCLC mentored a IBCLC hopeful. The
example ripples to them, and so on, etc.

I am excited to have the opportunity to continue the cycle someday and
mentor IBCLC hopefuls (as well as childbirth educator hopefuls and birth
doula hopefuls...see how that cycle morphs and grows?!).

Feeling very blessed this morning,
