GEORGIA: NUTRITION SUPPORT FOR NEW MOTHERS

Through two programs run jointly with the US Department of State, the United
Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is helping new mothers in Georgia cope
with one of the hidden consequences of war and violence, the stress-induced
inability to lactate and so: to breastfeed their babies.

The programs, which are run in 27 locations in the Eastern European country,
help 4,200 new mothers who have been clinically diagnosed unable to lactate.
They provide medical consultations, breast milk substitutes, and
psychosocial support to help them process the trauma.

You can support projects like these with your gift to Georgia Emergency,
UMCOR Advance #250305.
