I have a mom with a 6 mo old baby who needs to go back on Lithium for
bipolar disorder. She had taken it for 4 yrs (prepreg) and stayed off as
long as she could in order to bf her baby. Is this totally contraindicated?
(I think so re:Hale's book) And if so, are there any other meds that might
be helpful for a while to keep her nursing? I have tried to communicate this
concern to her caseworker (and via her to the dr.) but have not gotten any
response as to possible alternatives.
