Just to clarify.

I'm not keeping my mouth shut in my community for the next two years.  I just
know there will be a lot work to do to continue to change the attitudes of my
colleagues.

BTW-the peds chief at the other hospital is a WOMAN (yes we have quite a few
women pediatricians in our area).  She is not very interested in
breastfeeding management.  However she is one of the few pediatricians in the
area that will see indigent patients (as in medicaid, CHIPS, no insurance).

To be brutally frank, most of my colleagues could give a rat's backside about
patient satisfaction (something very attractive to administrators, consumer
advocates, health plans attracting patients).

On the other hand, I look at the current situation in my community as
incredible job security.  More families are coming to my practice looking for
a "family centered," gentler doc.
