I totally agree with you.  Although,  I do believe that the Nduati et al.
studies on hiv and breastfeeding/formula feeding were "supposedly"  done this
way.  These studies have become the basis for decision making by the WHO and
the CDC, etc on breastfeeding and hiv.  This study was done in Kenya and yes
there was definitely a lack of compliance for mothers in the formula group.
Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong about the Nduati study.  But I
remember being very shocked that they were allowed to do this.  I guess
researchers can do anything they want, if it's done in Africa....Valerie W.
