Hi All,
I have a client who has a 7 wk old, and the baby has a nasty diaper yeast
rash.  She wanted to know about the following treatments she was advised to do:
Give to the baby:
Pau D'Arco tea 1 tsp 3-4 times a day
Primadopholis orally 3/4 - 1 tsp 2 times a day

She has also been putting the Primadopholis on the rash and wanted to know
if anyone else had tried this and if so, did it work?  She says that it
feels like the rash is better (mom is completely blind) but she will have
her mom look at it Tues to do a visual check.  Baby has had a yeast problem
since she recieved IV antibiotics for an illness about 4 wks ago.  They have
tried the Nystatin (orally and tpoically) with not much success...as soon as
the treatment was done, the rash flared again, but not in the mouth the 2nd
time.

What are your thoughts on giving the baby the Pau D'Arco tea?  Is this safe?
How about the primadopholis topically?

Also, baby is congested (has tried elimination diest with no success) and
mom was advised to give 5 drops of echinacia/eyebright 3 times a day (for
sinus congestion).  ANy thoughts on this?

My questions:  HAs anyone heard about the new research going on about yeast
concerning the use of vinegar baths or baking soda baths to balance out the
PH of the skin and help fight the yeast?  I have heard that these treatments
may actually cause the yeast to form a shell around itself and mutate,
getting worse and more resistant to treatment.  Anyone know anything about this?

And one final question;  how long does it take for Gentian Violet to get rid
of yeast in the diaper area?  How many days is it safe to use the GV on a
baby's bottom?
